School Programs

We believe a child is never too young to make a difference. That is why we invite you to consider adopting a community service project that supports RMHSNJ. By encouraging student altruism through one of our suggested service opportunities, children will become engaged in learning more about our mission and how they can directly improve the comfort of the kids who call our house their home.

If you are interested in scheduling a visit from a RMHSNJ representative to speak to a class, a grade level or your entire school about the services offered by the house and how students can help, Click Here.

Hundreds of families and kids come through our doors and depend on us to provide the comforts of home. Whether it is a roll of paper towels or a granola bar, our families appreciate the stock of household and pantry items that students collect and donate to the house. School coordinators can choose to host a one-time drive or focus on a different needed item every month. Wish List Click Here

Change the Luck of a Child Coin Drive

Collect spare coins to change the luck of children and families staying at our House. Use your own container, label it with our official sticker or a sign of your own design, and collect in your school cafeteria, office or classroom. Every penny will help our mission of providing Hope, Help, and Home to families who travel from as far away as China to seek medical care in our area. Many of our school partners use the money raised from Coin Drive to purchase items on our Wish List.

Families traveling great distances for emergency care sometimes forget the small, but important essentials at home. Using Ziploc bags, students will collect items that will provide comfort to our young guests and their families at a time when they need it most. All items should be travel-sized and each package should contain a handwritten note or artwork by the student preparing it.

Join us in celebration of youthful silliness and exuberance. Silly Hat Day strives to promote the ideals of community and fellowship through the universal language of funny hats. This is a fun way to support our house in donating $1.00 to wear a silly hat to school. It is our hope that your school will participate.

Collecting aluminum can tabs for the house is a great way to teach kids about service and the importance of recycling while raising funds to support the daily operations of the House. Students can collect tabs at home and bring them to school. There are no set containers in which to collect tabs, so get creative! Use and decorate coffee cans, pretzel jugs, and milk jugs as collection containers. If you are in the area, stop by the house and pick-up stickers you can use to label your containers. Schools can schedule a tour of the house and a delivery of their tabs between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday.
