Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey provides a “home-away-from-home” for pediatric patients and their families. We also operate 11 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in area hospitals across Southern New Jersey.
Washington Township, NJ, Wednesday, June 25, 2025 – The Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey (RMHSNJ) was proud to officially re-open its renowned Family Room, located inside the Emergency Department (ED) of Jefferson Washington Township Hospital in Turnersville, NJ on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Originally opened in 2004, it is the only Ronald McDonald House Family Room program located within the Emergency Department of a hospital.
“We are honored to reopen this first-of-its-kind program, in partnership with Jefferson Health, Sentry Equipment, and the Durante Family,” said Tracey Sharpe, RMHSNJ’s Executive Director. “We are committed to offering everyone a comforting place to rest and recharge.”
The Family Room – which was closed during the pandemic – is reopening with a new, refreshed look.
“This Family Room, as well as our second room, located inside in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, not only provide hope for children and their families, but they also provide a sense of normalcy, which cannot be undervalued in a healthcare setting,” said Aaron Chang, FACHE, President, East Region, Jefferson Health. “We are thrilled to see this room come to life again, with the sound of children laughing and playing and we thank the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey for its ongoing support.”
This will mark RMHSNJ’s eleventh Family Room in Southern New Jersey. Located in nine South Jersey hospitals — primarily in NICUs — Family Rooms provide a comfortable place for parents and caregivers to take a moment for themselves, while remaining steps away from their child’s bedside.
